PORTFOLIO PLEIN AIR
“En Plein Air”, the act of drawing or painting outdoors, challenges the 21st century artist to move beyond the conveniences of working from a photograph or computer image in a controlled environment.
Working plein air in a sketchpad or on an iPad promotes response to the immediacy of the moment. I keep my eyes on the subject and draw without looking at the paper. This “blind drawing" is second-nature for me. Malcolm Gladwell says it takes ten thousand hours to become good at something. That's 10K hours of working through the "ups and downs".
Enjoy a small cross-section of my work. These sketches are snapshots of how I see and understand the world using various plein air techniques. Please contact me regarding commissions, purchase and usage.
